What did I learn today? Asparagus is a great cat toy.
I was prepping some asparagus for dinner and the cat snagged an end piece. She's been playing with it ever since. Batting it. Biting it. Jumping on it. Carrying it around in her mouth.
Who knew?

Zoo News
Went to the zoo today to just walk around and maybe catch a few pictures. I was lucky enough to catch the new baby giraffe (Mkuu) on his first day on exhibit. I caught this photo that I'm calling, "Did Somebody Say Crackers?"

Thoughts on a Saturday
Olympic table tennis (a.k.a. ping-pong) serves are weird.

I wish I didn't bruise so easily. I had blood drawn yesterday morning to check some results of my weight loss program. I have very well-hidden veins and I always warn the people about to attempt to take blood from the normal spot. Due to this warning the tech started with a vein on my left forearm and lost the vein after one tube (though she did poke around a while to try to get it back again). Needing two more tubes, she moved to the fat vein on my right wrist and finished the job (yes, that one was painful). Both are massively bruised. A lovely look. Those numbers better come back good.

I start my new job on Monday. I found out that my picture will be on the front page of their intranet on Tuesday. Great. Now I need to pay even closer attention to how I look Monday. I've already got to hide my arms, so I don't look like some sort of drug user.

I jogged three intervals of five minutes today. As I move through the Couch to 5K plan, my third run this week will be for 20 minutes straight. That's a lot for me. Just 13 weeks ago, I couldn't jog at all as my shins felt like they would snap (due in part to my weight). Now I run without pain at all.

Well, I think that's enough random thoughts for you all to chew on. Hope everybody's having a good weekend.

Go Shawn!
I've never been a huge gymnastics fan, but there's something that draws you in when an Olympic star is from your local area. I've been an avid watcher of the Olympics lately (even TiVoing when I think there will be something I might want to see later).
I think Shawn Johnson's story is very cool. A determined, dedicated, driven little 16 year old girl who still attends public high school and is a regular teenager, aside from having world-wide attention. I hope she does well!

Happy Wednesday!
So, guess what? I got the job. Yay me! I'm very excited to start this new job. My last day at this job is next Wednesday. I wish it was sooner...but I figured I'd be nice and give two weeks notice.
Things have been hectic in WebGal land. I think this week has been nuts. I haven't had a night to relax and do nothing. I like being busy...but I want a breather as well. Happily, I'm still managing to fit in my runs and continuing my "diet". This is my last week on "full fast." (Meaning all liquid.) I get to start eating one meal with protein and veggies on Friday. Yay! I've already planned out my entire next week of menus. Since I'm rather limited to certain protein and veggies, the planning is pretty simple, but it's still exciting. Tilapia and asparagus, here I come!

So last night I trained in animal handling at the zoo.
Yep, that's right. I can now officially handle snakes, turtles, geckos, parrots, rabbits, ferrets, chickens, and more for the zoo. Surprisingly, my favorite was...the alligator. It's a baby alligator, but that's still able to do damage. It's very cool to hold one. They are amazing creatures! The picture I have to the right is about the size of what I handled last night. Cute, ain't they?
Well that's all for now.
