I have the hiccups tonight. It's annoying. It's recurring. It's involuntary. It also got me thinking.
Last night I had a dream about my cat Del. I dreamed that he was still alive. Well, there's actually more to the dream than that, but it's all I really want to write about. Why? Because the rest haunts me. The rest hurts me. It can't be true, but I know why I dreamt it.
Honestly, I probably haven't dealt with this death very much. I've tried to just put it away in the back of my mind. I don't want to think about it. I don't want to deal. And in doing so I think I've made it like my dream. Recurring. Involuntary.
It's been two months now. It seems like yesterday to me. If I allow myself to think about it, I'll...well...that's what I don't want to think about.
Tonight I walked across something on the floor that hit my foot. I bent down to see what it was. It was a piece of Del's cat food. I have no idea where it came from. But there it was...a tangible reminder of him. Funny it showed up tonight.
Anyway...still with the hiccups, still with the thoughts I don't want to think about...still missing my Del.

Doing their business...
Recently I found myself in the restroom at work at a time it was very quiet in there. Normally it's a pretty busy place with so many people who work on this floor. But that day it was almost silent. And then I heard it...the sound of someone typing. I thought I was hearing things. Surely it couldn't be. But yes, in the next stall over I definitely heard somebody typing a text message on their cellphone or an email on their blackberry.
Now since I work at a company that has quite a few people using blackberry devices, I assume it was one of those. And how gross is that?
I really don't want to think that some blackberry message I get here at work could be somebody doing their business....while, you know...doing their business.
What is so important that you can't wait a few minutes...or if things aren't going too well a few more minutes. Please people.... No texting from the toilet.

"Bridezillas"
Have you ever watched the show "Bridezillas"? It's on WE. From time to time I'll watch it. It's like a horror movie or the most ridiculous thing you've ever seen. These women are insane. They appear to believe that just because they are getting married they are the most important women in the world.
I have to assume they started off thinking this way and their future husbands already know what they're getting into. It's absolutely dumbfounding. An event meant to join a man and a woman has become completely about the woman. Ridiculous!!!!
Be happy you've found someone you want to spend the rest of your life with and who wants to do the same with you!! I would give almost anything for that.
Again this is another instance that makes me wonder what I'm doing wrong. If these psycho bitches can attract a man, why can't I?
Yeah, I know. I just have more discerning tastes. But still...

Sick, sad, psycho
I just saw that the missing pregnant woman in Ohio was found dead. And that they arrested her boyfriend, the father of her toddler and unborn child. How does a man do that? How? His own unborn child that was weeks from being born!
This makes me feel so...sad. And wary. Why should I want to find a boyfriend/husband when I could just possibly find someone as crazy/sick as this bastard?
So...hug your loved ones. Be thankful you don't have such a crazy person in your life.

My Goal in Life
Previously I wrote about another blogger's pathetic "goal in life". Read below. This in turn started me thinking about what mine is and if it too is pathetic. Maybe it's a personal thing.
I'll throw a few possible goals out there and see if something strikes me.
- Collect every Simpson's DVD.
Yes, I see the patheticness here. - Be skinny.
Not as pathetic, but lame. - .....umm.....hm.......
OK. Maybe I judged the baseball addict too harshly. I honestly don't think I have a real goal in life. So at least he's thinking about where he wants his life to go. All I want to do is be skinny and collect DVDs. Sad.

What's the deal with baseball?
Why are so many people obsessed with baseball? I don't get it. Now, I enjoy going out to the ballpark and watching a game too (if "watching" means drinking beer and chatting with the people I went with), but how can this sport consume people the way it does?
I read a bunch of blogs on a daily basis. Many of them are grouped together for a publication called Juice. One of these bloggers writes about some quasi-pro league for men stuck in their high school and college years. He's apparently a founding member or whatever. (I'm not a regular follower of his blog, though I have read it when he talks about non-baseball topics.)
Today this baseball-aholic made a comment on someone else's blog that is the inspiration of my own thoughts here today. He said, "My goal in life, other than playing the game for as long as I can, is to put a kid in the major leagues. Whether it be mine (please, Lord, if it’s a boy, give him a golden arm and a love for baseball) or the kid down the street–that is MY goal!"
Isn't that a bit of a strange goal in life? I understand everybody has their own priorities and interests, but this guy's GOAL IN LIFE is to make someone else get where he probably wanted to be 10 years ago. Maybe it's time to look at life beyond baseball. Or maybe I just need to watch more baseball. If so, then please pass me a big-ass beer and cheese brat or I won't make it.
