Movies Anyone?

Yesterday I went to see my most anticipated movie of the year. Yes, "The Simpson's Movie". It was great. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I know back when the movie was first announced I thought it was a bad idea. The show has been running for 18 seasons and it just seemed like it was too late for a movie. But it turned out great. Not too long, funny, and it was really true to the series. Definitely a thumbs up. I might even go again sometime to see what I might have missed while laughing.

This afternoon I decided to watch a completely different type of movie. I downloaded it to my TiVo a couple of weeks ago and hadn't watched it yet. "Letters from Iwo Jima". Let me just say...see this movie. Now, be prepared to read the subtitles, but it's worth it. Fantastic movie.

So there you have it. I think I watched about the most extreme opposite spectrum of movies I possibly could and enjoyed them both.

Wow, those are definitely polar opposite movies.

What makes the Iwo Jima one stand out from other war movies?

It's from the Japanese soldier's perspective.

Oh, wow. Well, that does make it different. I should check it out, but I really don't like war movies usually. Except for Braveheart, and that's from a really old war.

Now the last war movie I saw was "Flags of Our Fathers" and I was BORED. It wasn't what I expected. I'm not too much of a war movie fan, either.
