Goal Accomplished!

Yes, I did it. I accomplished another goal. I ran a 5K race yesterday. Yay!

Yesterday was the 17th annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Des Moines and I decided I wanted to run it as my first 5K back in August, so I signed up. Later I mentioned I was running it to Monnik so we made plans to run together along with her daughter Hollywood (and about 23,000 other people who ran or walked). That's a picture of Monnik and me that her daughter took before the race.

It was a very brisk morning to start, but it was perfect once the run started. We had to dodge quite a few walkers, but we managed to finally get into a good running rhythm thanks to Monnik being our pace person. She deserves a big round of applause because she ran with rather nasty chest congestion.

It was a great day and all for a great cause! I can't wait until next year!
