She's a web geek

In honor of my blog name WebGal, I should explain a bit about that. I analyze and sometimes code websites for a living. What is analyzing a website? It means I use a tool called WebTrends to track how people visit a website. I look at where they go and what they do and how long they are there. It tells me where people click the most and how many people follow the path we want them to.

I work for a fairly well-known behemoth of a company, so we take this stuff pretty seriously.

I do like what I do (most of the time). It's very interesting to dig into the info and extract relevant information that can make our websites better. And let's face it, we can always get better. Especially at Behemoth Financial.

So...here's where I web-geeked yesterday (new verb...and I like it). I installed a free web analytic tool to my blog (
Google Analytics) to do two things: 1) See if I get any traffic; and 2) see how this analytics tool works.

The results are astonishing. 8 visits since I installed it. That is pretty darn amazing. However, I imagine that traffic is me and regular reader. :)

Until I post again...

I'll probably have to walk you through it in person...it's not something easily posted here.
