Del's Nightly Routine

So I've been getting some grief over not putting up a post yesterday. People....this writing is a carefully nurtured craft...it's not like I just sling whatever comes to mind up on here...

OK. I do sling whatever comes to mind up here. Consider the following....

I recently started paying attention to my cat's routine at night. He switches it up every so many months, but why? I mean...why the routine and then why the switch?

Currently, he sleeps most of the night on my right side. It can be fairly annoying because he's between me and my clock, my kleenex (Puffs actually), and my glasses. So I sort of have to roll on him to get them. He doesn't seem to care though.

Anyway....back to his routine. He sleeps there for several hours. Then he wakes up and turns toward me and stares. Naturally I wake up, because it's that freaky. So, I pet him and then he lays back down.

About an hour later he decides to get off the bed. Now, he does vary his route at this stage. Either he jumps off the bed from where he is...or....he decides to walk across my stomach (at 16lbs this is very noticeable) and head to the bathroom. It is there that I hear him begin to drink his water. How do I hear it? It's not the drinking of the water. It's how he scuffles his feet when he starts drinking the water (apparently that's HIS weird body connection). I don't really know what he does next...I'm back asleep by then. But I do know that lately I'll wake up and find him on my left side. Why? I'm not sure. Maybe he likes the change of scenery...

Now this routine isn't set in stone, but every bit of this is followed every night. Sometimes he adds in little special extras for me, such as hearing him puke or licking a plastic bag.

Yes, my cat is quite the character. And I put an entire blog to him.
