I took the day off to run errands today. It's been nice. I got some stuff done and added a little shopping in as well. I stopped in DSW to look for some new spring shoes and instead saw a bunch of casual slip-on Sketchers. I looked down at my old beat-up pair of Sketchers on my feet and new it was time. Time to get a new pair. I felt like I was betraying my go-to shoes. I've had these shoes somewhere around 5 years. Yes, they're old. They're beat up. They're not even that fashionable anymore...but I love 'em. Anybody else have a pair of "go-to" shoes? Shoes you can wear no matter what the season. Shoes that keep getting more and more beat up and at the same time, more and more comfortable?
My slip-on Sketchers fit me like a glove, but that glove is starting to get so worn out that holes are showing up. So the time had come. I tried on a few pairs...but nothing felt as good as slipping my old pair back on. Finally I found a pair that were comfortable, stylish, and easy to slip on (the golden trinity for me).
Now that I'm home, they're still in the box. I'll pull them out soon and wear them tonight...but I don't think I can quite part with my old pair. They'll sit by the door for a while until I have the heart to throw them in the garbage. I mean....they do give me an extra inch or so of height and you never know when I might need to slip them on to reach that can on the top shelf. :)

you don't have to throw them away! poor shoes. they work hard for 5 years before a younger, hipper, and probably slimmer model moves in and takes over. oh the injustice!
i have no go-to shoes. i need to get some. in the summer, i have some flip flops that i like, but i don't have anything that can be used year round.
and now I feel even worse about my poor shoes. I wore them tonight though....so I still haven't given them up completely.
