Last night I was back at the gym again (making it 4 days in a row....). I did some time on the elliptical and then moved to the treadmill to finish out my time.
While I was walking I thought about how fitness experts say you should tighten your ab muscles while you work out. So I figured, what the heck. I did it. And then my mind would drift and I'd notice I had relaxed my abs again, so I tightened them once again. It was then I noticed a strange thing happening. Every time I would tighten my abs my right thumb would involuntarily bend. I thought it was strange (as I'm sure you do too) and tried the process again. Same results. Now I was really curious. So I tried unbending the thumb while my abs were flexed. I could, but then my thumb would bend again. I have no idea what the relation was here, but eventually I just stopped tightening my abs because it's much more entertaining to watch the TV there than focus on my gooey abs.
Here's the kicker....when I was writing this today I decided to again see if my thumb would react the same way. After several attempts I find that it doesn't. All is normal with my thumb/ab connection today. Has this ever happened to anybody else? Do you have a weird body part connection? Maybe I'm just the only one weird enough to notice this sort of thing. It wouldn't surprise me.

Ha! That's weird.
The only thing I can think of that is similar (and it really isn't similar) is that when I pluck my eyebrows it makes me sneeze.
you are not alone in this body phenomenon....i too have noticed a quirk in my system....i find that when i shake something in one hand in a certain way that the other hand shakes too...it doesnt always happen but ive wondered if it is some sign that i will have parkinsons disease someday...sometimes i catch myself using my left hand for things i never use it for like cutting vegetables or when im making jewelry at work ill have my pliars in my left....wierd wild and wacky stuff....and to go along with monniks similar but not similar phenomenon i always cough when i use a q-tip in my ears....sorry to blab so much in your blog....out
